D umfries and Galloway Seniors Forum

Formed in 1988 Dumfries and Galloway Seniors Forum achieved charitable status in 1998. The organisation has a proven track record of working on behalf of older people, giving a voice to seniors, not only in the affairs that affect them locally, but in particular when issues are likely to affect them directly. The Forum has always done this through its ethos of membership - that is, through older people acting and speaking on behalf of themselves and other older folk.
The Forum is a focus for contact between the senior citizens, local authority and other agencies within Dumfries & Galloway. Issues raised that have been important over the years have been transport, health, care and welfare, housing, fuel poverty and benefit maximisation.
Membership of the Forum, currently some 3300+ is spread geographically throughout Dumfries & Galloway. Local Groups have varied programmes of activities in Dumfries, Lochmaben, Lockerbie and Moffat.
This service is available to anyone from the age of 50 onwards.
The Forum employs a Development Manager, a temporary Office Administrator and part-time Administrative Assistant.
Many of the Forum’s members actively take part in unpaid volunteer roles within the organisation - both in the Forum’s overall activities, as Governing Body members, and in the Forum’s local groups spread throughout Dumfries & Galloway.
